My approach is warm, relational, non-pathologizing and always fully confidential. The process itself is psychodynamic and educational. Depth Psychology was established in 1931 Zurich by psychiatrist Eugen Bleuler who was a mentor to Carl Jung. The field of Depth Psychology is interdisciplinary and eclectic and draws on literature, philosophy, mythology & the arts. My work is for people who are wanting to explore outside of more clinical modalities and challenge themselves to a life of greater profundity, connection and creative wisdom. There is ever increasing evidence for the efficacy of this approach, as studies show that depth psychology has a longer-lasting and more profound impact than cognitive or behavioral psychologies alone. Together we explore the history, patterns and coping strategies that have influenced and may have limited your life thus far. Our goal is for you to recognize your deep inner wisdom and to shift any limiting beliefs so that you can express your most authentic self.
In 2004 I began my training to become a Licensed Psychotherapist because I am passionate about helping people uncover the best version of themselves. Life is complex and every one of us will eventually encounter hardships that require us to look inward. Thus the heart of my Private Practice is helping people access their personal depth and resilience so that they can live a more creative, connected and meaningful life. This process requires a commitment to self reflection, a commitment to this relational process, and a radical accountability that is easily avoided in today's world of self-soothing distractions. While discomfort is often unavoidable in growth, this process creates the space for a more innovative and engaged sense of self to emerge.
When we are struggling, triggered or overwhelmed by our own lives oftentimes our access to our more intuitive and creative functions will suffer and become diminished. This is often the point when artists, creatives, writers, musicians begin to feel frustrated or even experience "feeling blocked" for extended periods of time. Through a Depth and Analytic approach we can begin to unburden those heavily laden parts of ourselves. By exploring our unconscious via dreams, active imagination and dynamic exploratory dialoguing we can identify and address how these complexes may be paralyzing us and thus keeping us from a richer and more illuminated perspective.
